Raider Report

November 2017

Please pray for…

  • Mayer Lutheran High School as they begin building the new entry and field house.  Safety for the workers and favorable weather for construction.
  • The Emanuel school community and our theme “It's Still All About Jesus”.
  • The meals that were packed across the Minnesota South District.
  • Families who are without a home, as our weather turns colder.
  • The 7th and 8th Grade Basketball Teams as they begin their season.

Thank you to…

  • Jen Heuer, Tristin Sprengeler, Racheal Holland, and Steph Paumen for organizing the Harvest Carnival.
  • The teachers of Emanuel, who work to bring the Gospel message into the hearts and lives of our students and families.
  • Marilyn Vollbrect for her work on the school garden, and her many trips with students to tend and harvest.
  • All the drivers and chaperons for our trip to Trinity to pack meals for Feed My Starving Children.  We helped pack over 30,000 meals in our session.

Raiders praise God for

  • The harvesting of the wonderful fruits of the earth.
  • Opportunities to serve and put our faith into action.

It's Still All About Jesus

Our school theme is “It's Still All About Jesus”.  We will be learning about the work and life of Jesus our Savior.  Recently we heard about Jesus being The Bread of Life and The Vine.  Our relationship to Jesus with the image of a vine and branches is beautifully represented by the paraments on the altar.

Holiday Dinner

Parents, grandparents, other relatives, congregational members, and friends of Emanuel students are all invited to attend our annual Christmas dinner, December 4th, prepared by our wonderful cook, Rhonda Schauer. The menu is as follows: roast turkey, ham, stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, corn, salads, desserts, bread and drinks. All of this food for a free will donation. All donations go directly to our school lunch fund. All we ask is that you notify the school office by Nov. 27th. Lunch count sheets have been sent home with students for an accurate count. Please come and join us.

Outstanding Lutheran Educator

Marilyn Vollbrecht, one of primary room teachers, received the award of Outstanding Lutheran Educator for 2017 at the Minnesota South District Educators Conference.  Her teammate in the primary room, Jodi Wilson, nominated her for this award.  A couple of parents also wrote letters of support, highlighting the wonderful gifts that make Mrs. Vollbrecht so special to us.  Congratulations Mrs. Vollbrecht and thank you for sharing your gifts with the Emanuel families.

Second Quarter Chapel Offerings

We are now beginning our drive for the West Carver Food Shelf, the McLeod Emergency Food Shelves, and the Sibley County Foodshare. Students may bring non-perishable food or monetary offerings on Fridays. This mission project will continue through the middle of January.

Tuition Assistance Fund

Each year many of our Emanuel students benefit from tuition assistance.  If you would like to make a donation toward this fund, please contact Mr. Bentz.  Any size gift will help.  Our hope is that family finances will not keep any student from hearing the Gospel here at Emanuel.

Amazon Smile

If you shop on Amazon, you can help Emanuel as well.  If you go to you can sign up to support Emanuel Lutheran School.  The shopping experience is the same as a typical visit to Amazon, but we receive a percentage of your purchase.  If you have questions, please talk to Mr. Bentz.

Scrip Makes Cents

The Scrip Program helps raise money for our PTL by selling gift cards and certificates. The Scrip fund receives a discount when purchasing these cards/certificates, then sells them at face value. You pay nothing extra and PTL receives thousands of dollars a year. It’s that simple! Scrip will be sold on all Sundays and communion Saturdays after church.  We will be sending home an updated list of all available Scrip soon.  If you have questions, please contact Greg Cummins.
