Raider Report

September 2018

Please pray for…

  • Good weather to benefit the crops and continued safety for farmers as they work to provide food for our nation and our world.
  • The beginning of the school year as we focus on the "Fruit of the Spirit".
  • Our new teachers: Mrs. Brenda Kieper (Math, Social Studies, and Literature); Mrs. Kristine Marlatt (Music).
  • Our students in Kindergarten, 3rd, 5th, and 7th grades as they move into different classrooms and discover all the new learning that awaits them.

Thank you to…

  • The trustees for keeping our school facility in excellent shape.  Please stop in to take a look at our wonderful facility for education.
  • Mrs. Vollbrecht, Ben Heuer, and Emanuel families as they tended and harvested all the wonderful produce from the school garden.
  • All the Ribfest workers  (130) who helped create a delicious event, as well as all the great people who donated and helped us raise funds for Emanuel.

Raiders praise God for

  • Generous donations to Emanuel Lutheran School that make our school a wonderfully well rounded educational program.
  • The new families who have joined the community of Emanuel.
  • All the generous donors who have given toward tuition assistance and the impact that will have on families.
  • God’s gracious hand of blessing for Ribfest.

Mission Statement

As part of our work together, the faculty reviewed and updated the mission statement for Emanuel.  Our goal as a staff is to always keep the mission in front of us as we carry out the ministry here at Emanuel.  Our new mission is:

Rooted in Christ, Emanuel Lutheran School partners with families supporting the

spiritual and educational development of children.

Welcome New Families

The teachers and staff would like to welcome our new families to Emanuel Lutheran School: Bryan, Erica, and Adalynn Bogema (PK4); Kim Buckentin and Erich Sellner (8); Trista Tankersley, Jake Pasket, and Freddie Pasket (PK4)

Chapel Theme - "Fruit of the Spirit"

Throughout this school year we will be focusing on the nine Fruit of the Spirit.  Each month we will focus on one fruit.  At the end of each month we will highlight students who have displayed the fruit in a special way.

Emanuel Athletics

During the fall season, Emanuel will have athletes participating in football (5-8), volleyball (4-6), and cross country (3-8).  We also have our 7th and 8th grade girls participating with Zion Cologne for volleyball.  Come out and support our Raiders!

Volleyball Tournament

All families are invited to attend the Emanuel 7th and 8th grade volleyball tournament scheduled for September 15.  If you are asked to help with this event, please consider lending a hand. Great food and drinks will be offered throughout the tourney. Come and join the fun.

Cross Country Meet

Emanuel will be hosting our Third Annual Cross Country Meet on September 21.  If you are interested in helping organize this event or you are willing to sit on a corner to make sure runners stay on course, please contact Mr. Bentz.  This is a great event that celebrates our wonderful campus.

School Tours and Enrollment

If you know of any families that are searching for a school home, please contact Mr. Bentz in the school office.  He would love to set up a tour of the school or simply talk about the programs and people of Emanuel.

Tuition Assistance Fund

Each year many of our Emanuel students benefit from tuition assistance.  If you would like to make a donation toward this fund, please contact Mr. Bentz.  Any size gift will help.  Our hope is that family finances will not keep any student from hearing the Gospel here at Emanuel.

Amazon Smile

If you shop on Amazon, you can help Emanuel as well.  If you go to you can sign up to support Emanuel Lutheran School.  The shopping experience is the same as a typical visit to Amazon, but we receive a percentage of your purchase.  If you have questions, please talk to Mr. Bentz.

Scrip Makes Cents

The Scrip Program helps raise money for our PTL by selling gift cards and certificates. The Scrip fund receives a discount when purchasing these cards/certificates, then sells them at face value. You pay nothing extra and PTL receives thousands of dollars a year. It’s that simple! Scrip will be sold on all Sundays and communion Saturdays after church.  We will be sending home an updated list of all available Scrip soon.  If you have questions, please contact Greg Cummins.
