Raider Report

May 2019

Please pray for…

  • Our students and staff as we conclude our yearlong focus on bearing the "Fruit of the Spirit".
  • Our faculty as we continue the process of having Emanuel become accredited by the National Lutheran Schools Association (NLSA).
  • The missionaries in Peru as they share the Gospel.
  • The legislative process working toward opportunities for families to have school choice.
  • Seasonable weather that those involved in agriculture may have a successful planting season.
  • Our students as they continue to focus their efforts on their studies at the end of the year.
  • Our confirmands as they continue to grow in their faith.  Pray that their faith would continue to walk closer to our Lord and Savior.

Thank you to…

  • Krista Woestehoff for taking time to proctor the MAP Tests for our students.
  • Carol Maser for her work with the Primary Room.

Raiders praise God for

  • The wonderful talents with which God has blessed our students.  We are especially thankful for our students that participated in the Spelling Bee.
  • Pastor Triplett and his work with the seventh and eighth graders in preparation for questioning and confirmation.

Mission Statement

Rooted in Christ, Emanuel Lutheran School partners with families supporting the

spiritual and educational development of children.

Chapel Theme - "Fruit of the Spirit"

Throughout this school year we will be focusing on the nine Fruit of the Spirit.  Each month we will focus on one fruit.  At the end of each month we will highlight students who have displayed the fruit in a special way.

Report from Fifth and Sixth Grade

The fifth and sixth grade classroom is a busy place. During January, Pastor Katie Escalante from Faith Lutheran Church, Waconia, visited with the students and engaged them in some conversation, es Spanol. She also played bingo in Spanish and incorporated flash cards which were written in Spanish.

During Religion we are talking about Christ's death and resurrection. It is so wonderful to listen to the students witness their personal faith and share their love of Christ with their classmates. Along with this theme we created Easter Eggs using balloons and tissue paper. In each egg the students inserted a cross as a reminder of what this sacrifice means in their life.

We are looking forward to the busy month of May. Traveling to see the MN Twins, the track meet at Lutheran High, and Play Day are just a few of the things to which we are looking forward. We are also blessed to have a visiting artist who will be doing a couple of lessons with the students. Ally Krommendyk - sister of Bennett (9th grader at Southwest Christian), Micah (2nd grader at Emanuel), Jake (Kindergartener at Emanuel), and other older sister, Brenna (Senior at Southwest Christian), and Tyler, who is a sixth grader in our classroom - is coming in to share her talent. We feel blessed to have the opportunity for her to join us and share her talent, and hopefully learn some new art techniques.

Fourth Quarter Chapel Offerings

As we begin 4th Quarter, our chapel offerings will be going to Lutherans in Africa.

Forming African Lutherans to be teachers of the Faith.

There is a severe shortage of trained pastors in Africa. In America, the Lutheran Church has 1 pastor for every 376 members. In Tanzania, for instance, there is 1 pastor for every 3,500 members. By training Africans to be teachers of the faith, Lutherans In Africa (LIA) is able to help fill the need for pastors and further spread the Gospel, allowing God to work through His external Word.

Spelling Bee

Congratulations to our Spelling Bee participants at the area competition held at MLHS on April 8th.  Our spellers include: Roman Holland, Torey Zajicek (10th Place),  Ashton Schlagel, Jackson Paumen (6th Place), Lydia Schlagel, Ava Salomon, Savanna Sprengeler (6th Place), and Johnathan Wilkens.

Last Day Closing Chapel Service

Everyone is welcome to join us for our closing chapel service on May 24th at 10:15 a.m. After worship, awards will be given out for perfect church attendance, perfect school attendance as well as others.  Please join us for the very special service.

School Visits

Do you know a family who is deliberating a school choice.  Please let those families know about the ministry at Emanuel.  We would love a chance to share what happens in our classrooms.  Mr. Bentz would love to sit down with these families to talk about the best things that are a part of Emanuel.  (952) 467-2780

Unhinged Pizza Sale

The delivery day for these pizzas will be May 8th.  This fundraiser will continue to help Emanuel provide quality programs for our students.

Do you have a 529 Plan? Are you a parent or grandparent of a young child?

The new tax code has changed rules about 529 College Savings Plans.  The funds are now eligible to be used for education from Kindergarten through college.  There are actually advantages to using the funds before college.  Please contact Mr. Bentz to find out about the advantages if you have an existing plan.  If you have a new youngster in your family, contact Mr. Bentz to find out reasons to get one started.  Mr. Bentz is not an expert and will not give investment advice, he simply hopes to let you know about some new options.

School Tours and Enrollment

If you know of any families that are searching for a school home, please contact Mr. Bentz in the school office.  He would love to set up a tour of the school or simply talk about the programs and people of Emanuel.

Tuition Assistance Fund

Each year many of our Emanuel students benefit from tuition assistance.  If you would like to make a donation toward this fund, please contact Mr. Bentz.  Any size gift will help.  Our hope is that family finances will not keep any student from hearing the Gospel here at Emanuel.

Amazon Smile

If you shop on Amazon, you can help Emanuel as well.  If you go to www.smile.amazon.com you can sign up to support Emanuel Lutheran School.  The shopping experience is the same as a typical visit to Amazon, but we receive a percentage of your purchase.  If you have questions, please talk to Mr. Bentz.

Scrip Makes Cents

The Scrip Program helps raise money for our PTL by selling gift cards and certificates. The Scrip fund receives a discount when purchasing these cards/certificates, then sells them at face value. You pay nothing extra and PTL receives thousands of dollars a year. It’s that simple! Scrip will be sold on all Sundays and communion Saturdays after church.  We will be sending home an updated list of all available Scrip soon.  If you have questions, please contact Greg Cummins.
