Raider Report

November 2019

Please pray for…

  • Safety and protection as the farmers in our area begin to harvest the bounty of the earth
  • Our students and staff this year as we focus on our theme “Whatever…”.
  • Our faculty as we continue the process to help Emanuel become accredited by the National Lutheran Schools Association (NLSA).

Thank you to…

  • Krista Woestehoff for setting up our MAP testing sessions and for her many years of proctoring the tests.
  • Gretchen Lake for volunteering to be our new proctor for the MAP tests
  • Mrs. Vollbrecht and the Emanuel students who are helping to harvest the final produce from the garden and preparing the garden for the winter.
  • All the teachers, parents, and students who helped make the cross-country meet and volleyball tournaments such huge successes.
  • The Hamburg Fire Department for sponsoring the fire poster contest and helping us learn that we can be heroes that don’t wear capes.

Raiders praise God for…

  • The wonderful produce that has been harvested at the school garden.
  • Mrs. Vollbrecht and her amazing efforts to make the school garden such a huge success.
  • Two Mayer Lutheran Seniors, Chris Woestehoff and Taylor Menth, who came and served at Emanuel doing some cleanup projects and spending time with the preschoolers and primary room students.

Mission Statement

Rooted in Christ, Emanuel Lutheran School partners with families supporting the

spiritual and educational development of children.

Chapel Theme - "Whatever…"

Throughout this school year we will be focusing on Philippians 4:8. Paul points out ideas that we as New Creations in Christ should have as our focus. “Whatever is true!”

Notes from Preschool

The Preschool class is always busy, and our year has been full of friends and FUN! After learning about our morning "jobs" and where things were in the Preschool room, we started right in with the story of Creation and God's stories in the Bible. So far, we have met Adam and Eve, Noah, Jacob, Samuel, and Joshua. We've also been learning our alphabet! Our themes have been APPLES, JUST B-ING ME!, COLORS ALL AROUND US, DINO-MITE, and ELEPHANTS EVERYWHERE!! We also had some special visitors from the Hamburg Fire Department come to our room and show us their fire suits! Then we got to go outside and see all their cool equipment and of course, the FIRETRUCK! THANKS, Firefighters!!! Next comes FALL FRIENDS, GARDEN GATHERING and HIBERNATION! Stop by and visit anytime...we'd love to share our stories and projects with you!!

Emanuel Athletics

The fall sports season is quickly winding down.  The fifth and sixth grade volleyball team has its final tournament on Oct. 26.  Congrats to those ladies on winning our home tournament. The seventh and eighth grade volleyball team will compete in the MLAA Tournament on Nov. 2.  God’s Blessings Lady Raiders!

The Cross Country Team competed at state on Oct. 12. Johnathan Wilkens – 3rd place; Addelyn Kamps – 2nd place; Parker Aurich – 5th place; Roman Holland – 4th place.  Congratulations runners on an excellent season!

Do you have a 529 Plan? Are you a parent or grandparent of a young child?

The new tax code has changed rules about 529 College Savings Plans.  The funds are now eligible to be used for education from Kindergarten through college.  There are actually advantages to using the funds before college.  Please contact Mr. Bentz to find out about the advantages if you have an existing plan.  If you have a new youngster in your family, contact Mr. Bentz to find out reasons to get one started.  Mr. Bentz is not an expert and will not give investment advice, he simply hopes to let you know about some new options.

Tuition Assistance Fund

Each year many of our Emanuel students benefit from tuition assistance.  If you would like to make a donation toward this fund, please contact Mr. Bentz.  Any size gift will help.  Our hope is that family finances will not keep any student from hearing the Gospel here at Emanuel.

Amazon Smile

If you shop on Amazon, you can help Emanuel as well.  If you go to you can sign up to support Emanuel Lutheran School.  The shopping experience is the same as a typical visit to Amazon, but we receive a percentage of your purchase.  If you have questions, please talk to Mr. Bentz.

Scrip Makes Cents

The Scrip Program helps raise money for our PTL by selling gift cards and certificates. The Scrip fund receives a discount when purchasing these cards/certificates, then sells them at face value. You pay nothing extra and PTL receives thousands of dollars a year. It’s that simple! Scrip will be sold on all Sundays and communion Saturdays after church.  We will be sending home an updated list of all available Scrip soon.  If you have questions, please contact Greg Cummins.
