Mission Statement

Rooted in Christ, Emanuel Lutheran School partners with families supporting the

spiritual and educational development of children.

Chapel Theme - "Fruit of the Spirit"

Throughout this school year we will be focusing on the nine Fruit of the Spirit.  Each month we will focus on one fruit.  At the end of each month we will highlight students who have displayed the fruit in a special way.

Emanuel Science Fair

Students in grades 5-8 will be displaying their science fair projects on January 23rd from 6:30 to 7:30 in the gym.  Everyone is invited to come and see these displays and ask the students questions about their projects.  These projects give the students a chance to walk through the scientific process and hopefully along the way make a discovery about their abilities to analyze and draw conclusions.

Second  Quarter Chapel Offerings

We are now beginning our drive for the West Carver Food Shelf, the McLeod Emergency Food Shelves, and the Sibley County Foodshare. Students may bring non-perishable food or monetary offerings on Fridays. This mission project will continue through the middle of January.

Emanuel Geography Bee

On December 19th we held our school Geography Bee Final. Students from fourth grade through eighth grade competed to become our school champion. Michael Mackenthun finished in third place.  Erich Sellner finished in second place.  Our school champion for 2019 is Ashton Schlagel. He will now take the next level test to earn the right to go to the state level geography bee.

Bake Sale Thank You

The PTL Bake Sale Committee would like to thank everyone who donated their delicious food items to this year's Bake Sale. We are blessed to have Emanuel Lutheran School parents and staff, as well as many congregation members, donating in abundance each year. Also, thank you to all who purchased the tasty treats.

Holiday Dinner and Art Festival

Thank you for all who attended and made our event truly memorable.

News from Seventh and Eighth Grade
The 7th and 8th graders have been working hard as we approach our Christmas break.  In Pre-Algebra we have been focused on the geometrical ideas of perimeter and area.  After Christmas we move into 3 dimensions and volume.  The Algebra students have completed our intense study of linear equations.  Ask them which they like better: The substitution method or the elimination method.  After Christmas we will begin to enter the world of polynomials.  In Science we are getting close to wrapping up our semester of Chemistry ideas.  Acids and Bases have been a topic for our discussions.  The science fair is fast approaching, so students are planning their experiments.  They have completed a research project in Literature to bolster their knowledge for the Science Fair.

Do you have a 529 Plan? Are you a parent or grandparent of a young child?

The new tax code has changed rules about 529 College Savings Plans.  The funds are now eligible to be used for education from Kindergarten through college.  There are actually advantages to using the funds before college.  Please contact Mr. Bentz to find out about the advantages if you have an existing plan.  If you have a new youngster in your family, contact Mr. Bentz to find out reasons to get one started.  Mr. Bentz is not an expert and will not give investment advice, he simply hopes to let you know about some new options.

School Tours and Enrollment

If you know of any families that are searching for a school home, please contact Mr. Bentz in the school office.  He would love to set up a tour of the school or simply talk about the programs and people of Emanuel.

Tuition Assistance Fund

Each year many of our Emanuel students benefit from tuition assistance.  If you would like to make a donation toward this fund, please contact Mr. Bentz.  Any size gift will help.  Our hope is that family finances will not keep any student from hearing the Gospel here at Emanuel.

Amazon Smile

If you shop on Amazon, you can help Emanuel as well.  If you go to www.smile.amazon.com you can sign up to support Emanuel Lutheran School.  The shopping experience is the same as a typical visit to Amazon, but we receive a percentage of your purchase.  If you have questions, please talk to Mr. Bentz.

Scrip Makes Cents

The Scrip Program helps raise money for our PTL by selling gift cards and certificates. The Scrip fund receives a discount when purchasing these cards/certificates, then sells them at face value. You pay nothing extra and PTL receives thousands of dollars a year. It’s that simple! Scrip will be sold on all Sundays and communion Saturdays after church.  We will be sending home an updated list of all available Scrip soon.  If you have questions, please contact Greg Cummins.
