Primary Room (K–2): Where Wonder and Learning Begin
In Emanuel’s Primary Room, students in Kindergarten through Grade 2 thrive in a nurturing, faith-filled environment that blends strong academics with joyful learning. Our multi-age classroom offers a unique opportunity for students to grow at their own pace while benefiting from peer role models and exposure to higher-order thinking. This dynamic environment fosters confidence, independence, and a deep love for learning.
Strong Foundations in Reading and Math
Our students receive sound instruction in both reading and math every day. With a strong phonics-based approach, many of our children become early readers. We tailor instruction to meet each student’s individual needs, ensuring they are both challenged and supported every step of the way.
Daily Faith Formation
Each morning begins with daily religion lessons that help students grow spiritually, understand God’s Word, and practice Christian values in everything they do.
STEM, Music, and Art
Our students enjoy weekly STEM activities that spark curiosity and hands-on discovery—they especially love exploring new ideas and solving problems together. In addition, they take part in music and art classes once a week, giving them creative outlets to express themselves and build new skills.
A Love for Writing: Author’s Night
Writing is a cornerstone of our curriculum. Throughout the year, students develop their writing skills, culminating in the creation of a published class book. One of the highlights of our year is Author’s Night, a magical event where each student reads an excerpt from their book and signs autographs for their proud families and friends.
Mystery Reader Visits
Each week, we welcome a surprise "Mystery Reader" into our classroom—a parent, grandparent, sibling, or family friend. These visits not only delight the students but also show the importance of reading and learning as a family value.
Soccer and Special Events
We believe learning goes beyond the classroom. Our K–1 and 2–3 soccer teams, launched just last year, have quickly become a beloved part of school life. Most of our students participate, and the program continues to grow in both fun and team spirit. Another favorite tradition is our annual trip to the theatre to enjoy a live play—a special experience that expands imaginations and brings stories to life.
